Paul Emmerson
Paul has been with Smith Emmerson since 1993. He qualified with Stoy Hayward (now Tenon) in 1991 and was with them from 1987 to 1993.
Until 2007, the time Jason joined the Practice, Paul was the main driver behind developing the practice to the respected position it holds today, and was responsible for the firm winning the AVN Accountancy Firm of the year in 2007. Paul believes the Practice is respected for the high quality work it delivers and has a very proactive business service that all clients benefit from on a very regular basis.
Paul enjoys corporate/business finance, business consultancy and advanced tax planning. Paul is also, reluctantly, the Audit Compliance Partner.
Paul takes a keen interest in most sports and enjoys whatever stressful time he can with his three demanding kids.

Jason Sharp
Jason joined Pannell Kerr Forster as a tax trainee in 1992 and since then has worked at other accountancy firms such as KPMG.
Jason joined Smith Emmerson as a partner in 2007 and specialises in taxation, especially enjoying meeting and working with clients to help them grow their business and understand the numbers.
Jason is an all round sports fan and still wishes to this day he could have been a professional sportsman.

Barrie Cupit
Barrie has vast accounting and auditing experience having worked in numerous Practices in South and West Yorkshire before joining Smith Emmerson in October 2008. He qualified in 1984 and is a Fellow Member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.
Barrie is very much client focused aiming to provide a friendly and professional service on a timely basis for all clients.
Outside of business, Barrie’s main interests are football and ice hockey, being a follower of the Blades and Steelers. As this suggests, Barrie lives in sunny Sheffield.

Steven Sharrard
Steven joined Smith Emmerson in March 2007 and has since been a rock for the company, Steven strives on pressure situations and has over 11 years experience in all aspects of accountancy after starting life at T Wilford Pell and company as a trainee accountant.
Steven’s main expertise is Sage Line 50, whether it be training clients or producing management accounts and general book keeping for clients. Steven will always make time for all clients' needs and will adapt as necessary to all working environments.
Steven enjoys all sports, both playing and spectating.

Neil Moon
Neil started his career in tax at Tenon as a private client tax assistant and later moved to Hobsons where he qualified and gained experience in dealing with personal & business taxation.
Neil joined Smith Emmerson in September 2008 as tax senior dealing with the firm's personal & business tax compliance and particularly enjoys dealing with tax planning assignments. Neil also deals with payroll.
Neil is an all round sports fan.

Carolyn Elliott
Carolyn originally worked for the inland revenue before seeing the error of her ways! She has since worked for a number of accountancy firms including Deloitte's and more recently was Tax Manager at MHA.
Carolyn's main strength is her extensive knowledge of personal tax.
Carolyn is a mum of 2 and part-time professional singer.

Rob Molloy
Robert is a recent addition to the Smith Emmerson team, following a move from a local Derbyshire accounting firm.
Currently studying towards the ACCA qualification, he is involved with audit, bookkeeping and accounts preparation within the team and enjoys opportunities to meet with the variety of people who form the client base for Smith Emmerson.

Claire Greasby
Since graduating in 1996, Claire worked for NatWest Bank for 13 years before leaving to join Smith Emmerson in January 2010.
Working at Smith Emmerson allows Claire to combine her career with looking after her 2 children.
If you ring the office, Claire is likely to be the first person you speak to – so be nice!

Rob Mason
Rob graduated with a 1st Class Honours in Computer Science, specialising in Internet Technology.
Rob went on to work for Siemens and Microsoft before joining Smith Emmerson earlier this year.
Rob looks after our IT infrastructure, as well as heading up our in-house web design team, Ash Tree Creative.
